The family behind our wine

Passion and devotion for our vineyards and wines. And a lot of hard work.

Manuelina winery is located in the town of Santa Maria della Versa right in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese wine region. The history of the winery dates back to the first half of the XX century when Luigi Achilli and his brother Guido decided to produce wine not only for their family and friends, but for commercial purposes. The Achilli Luigi winery was born! Success came soon and many people from the cities came to the winery on weekends to buy Achilli wines, especially bulk wine.

From that moment on Achilli winery experienced a constant development: the family’s commitment to work and the careful selection of the best grapes ensured a constantly higher quality wine production over the years. Luigi Achilli instilled his great passion to his sons Paolo and Antonio who contributed to the modernization of the winery each with its own attitude and expertise.

Recently, we changed the name of the winery from Achilli Luigi to Azienda agricola Manuelina to avoid confusion with other Achilli wineries present in the Santa Maria della Versa area. So, we registered a simple name with a connection to our family (Manuela is one of Paolo’s daughters). Today Manuelina winery owns about 22 hectares of estate vineyards and grows, produces and bottles its wines: we handle every stage of the winemaking process in-house, always trying to do our very best to satisfy our customers.

The vineyard and the wine

Taking care of nature. Keeping up with technology.

The vine is a generous plant that rewards with unique and precious fruits the hard work of people who grow it knowing all its secrets. The passion of our family for this work is our bonus ingredient and that’s why we are sure to offer you wines of a special character. We guarantee that a Manuelina bottle is made with the greatest care in each stage of production and with all the wisdom coming from years of experience. We always try hard to give you our very best.

We grow our vineyards following an eco-friendly commitment: extremely limited use of fungicides, organic fertilizers for a sustainable soil management, short pruning of the vines, natural grassing of the vineyards. The grapes are hand-harvested and then softly pressed. We use the most appropriate techniques to enhance the varietal character of each wine. We use temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to guarantee the best hygienic standards in the winemaking process.
